If anything, the Chinese government is not subtle. Here are a few floats from the 60th anniversary parade:
Xinjiang: Yup, that's an oil well and oil refinery riding up on top of a flying carpet. What else is Xinjiang good for? Delicious melons, of course. Docile Uyghurs are seen sitting down,
sans knives or disease-filled syringes.
Tibet: The Han have broken through the Tibetan wall of feudalism with a shiny new train to Lhasa! Upwards, ho!
Tibet: And what's on top of that float? More docile ethnics in costumes. Notice the lack of monks.
Taiwan: A smattering of drum beating aboriginals. And a bridge over the oft-rough Taiwan Straights. That's to provide easy access for those goose stepping PLA troops to march to Taipei 101 (the phallus up front) and enjoy the food court in the basement!
