Carspotting (52): Japanese Engrish Mitsubishi Delica

This is the second Delica I have spotted in the United States.  Unlike the first one I saw, this one is registered in British Columbia, where there are a lot less red tape headaches when it comes to registering a RHD JDM Delica.

I spotted this in the outskirts of Portland, Oregon, and knew from afar that this was no ordinary minivan.

I got closer and noticed a lot of writing over the rear fender.  But I was not able to read the entire tome.

Fortunately, the van eventually stopped at the same rest stop as I did.  The friendly and alternatively lifestyle-leading owner told me that this turbo diesel runs on veggie oil.  The occupants are headed down to Berkeley to see Phish in concert.  Right on!

I was able to get a shot of the Engrish description at the rest stop parking lot. I am reading Roads to Sata, which is about an Englishman who walked the entire length of Japan in the mid-1980s and the book is full of these Engrish-isms.

1993 Toyota Supra Turbo review road test

Go ahead and skip to the 1:30 mark.

Here is a comparo between the Mitsubishi 3000GT Turbo, Nissan 300ZX Turbo, the Supra Turbo, and the Mazda RX7 Turbo, just before their collective demise.  Go ahead and skip to the 0:55 mark.

Carspotting (25): RHD Mitsubishi Delica In America!

I almost did a spit take when I saw this Delica pull up into the parking lot. That can't be. Can it?

I ran out to the parking lot and there it was, a right hand drive Mitsubishi Delica Turbo Diesel 4WD Star Wagon. I'm still amazed that I saw it. It's way better than spotting a Veyron or any other overpriced supercar.

Tomica's Off Roaders

These are my off road Tomica models.

First, we have a yellow Mitsubishi Jeep. It is tiny. Probably the smallest vehicle in my collection. I don't know how the solid plastic rear tire became "flat". Did I leave just that tire on something hot and it melted?

I also have a Toyota FJ40. I can read the license plate number, but the wording on the doors is ineligible.

And here is my third Tomica off-roader-- a Lamborghini Cheetah. It was the prototype of my favorite SUV, the LM002.

Non-Hatchback Sedans And Coupes With Rear Wipers

We've already covered monoblades up front. Today, we'll cover sedans and coupes with trunks that have rear wiper blades. This is what I've been able to find on flickr so far.

Lexus/Toyota Soarer.

This is the Toyota Carina sold in Japan.

The Honda Prelude sold in Japan offered the rear blade, probably because JDM cars sit in traffic constantly.

The Evo is probably the only sedan sold in America that comes with a rear wiper blade.
